Following a life-long passion for equine veterinary medicine that began as a child, Dr. Browning started Check Equine in 1991. Our mission is to provide the highest level of veterinary care and customer service to our patients and their owners. At Check Equine, we focus on equine medicine and rehabilitation for sport and pleasure horses/animals.

Our veterinarians are recognized experts in equine performance medicine who have experience in caring for competition horses at international competitions, in addition to national, regional, and local horse shows. Some competitions include the World Equestrian Games (WEG), Grand Prix, and other dressage, racing, and jumping events.

Check equine and Dr. Browning have been serving the equine community since 1991.  In 2016, Dr. Anthony joined the practice and
Dr. Elizabeth Cooper joined in 2021.
Check Equine is an equine veterinary medical facility located in Dunville, KY. Check Equine is equipped with 11 treatment/ hospitalization stalls (including 3 foaling stall) and turn out paddocks.
EVS has 3 clinic areas, a 70×100 indoor arena, chiropractic rooms, in-house laboratory, farrier stall and full surgery room.
We understand the special bond between you and your horse and know you want the very best care possible. TONY HICKS, DVM

Dr. Hicks grew up in Paducah, KY and returned home after his education to open his own practice in 1994. Dr. Hicks received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in animal science, a Master’s Degree in Agriculture and Animal Nutrition from Murray State University and his DVM from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hicks has also graduated from Options for Animals Veterinary Chiropractic Course and Chi Institute Acupuncture Program.
Dr. Hicks specializes in equine sports medicine and lameness diagnostics and treatment. Dr. Hicks is passionate about continuing his education and advancing his diagnostics and treatment abilities.
Dr. Hicks has completed advanced training in digital imaging and has completed ISELP advanced modules on hock, stifle, pelvis & hip, neck & back and shoulder & elbow.

JENNIE COOK, DVM

Dr. Cook grew up in Southern Illinois, where her love of horses began. She grew up competing at team sorting and rodeo. After completing a Bachelor’s of Science degree at Southern Illinois University, Dr. Cook moved to Columbia, MO to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Missouri. Afterwards she spent a year at the University of Illinois, completing an equine internship in medicine and surgery. Dr. Cook has a passion for preventative & internal medicine and ophthalmology. Dr. Cook is a graduate of Options for Animals Veterinary Chiropractic Program. She also hopes to further her education in acupuncture, and sports medicine.

ELIZABETH COOPER, DVM

Dr. Elizabeth Cooper joined EVS in 2021. Dr. Cooper grew up in a small town in West Tennessee, where she has always had a variety of animals. After starting here at EVS, she and her husband Cody brought their various animals with them to their new home in Paducah, KY. In her free time, she enjoys barrel racing and spending time outside with her husband.
Dr. Cooper received a dual Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin in Animal Science and Veterinary Technology. Following her undergraduate degree, she pursued a Master’s of Science degree in Biomedical Professions from Lincoln Memorial University. She graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in May 2021, from University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing her training from Options from Animals Veterinary Chiropractic course and Chi
Institute Acupuncture program, Dr. Cooper is licensed to perform chiropractic and acupuncture. She is passionate about equine lameness diagnostic and treatment utilizing rehabilitation, acupuncture, and kinesiology. She hopes to further her education through herbology and ISELP.
